Halina Miranda

Hi! My name is Halina Miranda and I'm 22. I was born in San Francisco, California, and feel so lucky to have had the privilege of growing up here. My ethnic background is extremely diverse which has been a great advantage as it has taught me to be open to different and diverse ways of life.

My mother is Polish and Israeli, and my father is Peruvian, Chilean, and Spanish. Growing up, one of the most important things to my parents was family and along with that... knowing your roots and where you came from.

So, when I was as young as 6 months old, my mom bundled me up and headed to Europe. Ever since, I have been traveling to not only explore my heritage, but to discover new, exciting places and opportunities as well. Since I can remember I have always loved to be as expressive as possible.

My mother put me in baby beauty pageants, and tried to get me into modeling when I was really young, but when I got a taste of dance, I thought sitting in front of a camera was boring. I threw in the towel with modeling and when I was 4 decided I was going to be a dancer!

I danced all the way through the end of high school, and when it was time to focus on a career, I had to put my performing on hold. I realized my passion for cooking and decided to enroll myself into the California Culinary Academy. It has been so much fun and I cant wait to graduate so I can share with the world my different flavors.

About a year ago, I was approached by a photographer who thought I would be good for a project he was doing, and I'm glad I accepted because it has opened my eyes once again to the other artistic side of me I had forgotten about for so long.
