BIOGRAPHY Claudette Ortiz, born on July 21, 1982, in Willingboro, New Jersey, is an American soul singer of Afro Puerto-Rican descent.
Ortiz is most famous as the soprano in the R&B group City High although she has built somewhat of a name for herself as a solo artist. Ortiz was born and raised in Willingboro, New Jersey. She started singing at an early age and upon reaching high school age, she met future bandmates Robby Pardlo and Ryan Toby. Ryan Toby had some entertainment industry experience working on the movie Sister Act 2. Robby and Ryan were working on a record deal with Wyclef Jean. Since Booga Basement, Wyclef's record label, already had a male duo group, Wyclef suggested to bring in Robby Parldo's back up singer ( at the time) Claudette. The trio was then formed City High.
Ortiz was featured on Wyclef Jean's track "Dance Like This" on the Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights soundtrack, which was later remade by Shakira ("Hips Don't Lie") in 2006. Other artists she has worked with include Nas, Ja Rule and rapper Ma$e. View GALLERY:
