Yasmin Ghauri, born on March 23, 1971, is a Super Model of Pakistani Origin.

Yasmin Ghauri's father is a Muslim cleric from Pakistan where as her mother is from Germany. Yasmin always considered herself an odd ball. She was too lanky for her age and developed too early.

At the age of 17 Ghauri was discovered by by fashion stylist and photographer Edward Zacharia at her hair salon, it is also said that she was discovered at a local McDonald's. Her modeling career began at the age of 17, after she had made an appointment at a Montreal modeling agency. Yasmin's Father did not approves of her modeling since the idea of a Pakistani girl modeling in the western Fashion world was unacceptable.

Ghauri, however, had found her calling. She began Modeling on a small scale in Montreal and then moved to New York to pursue modeling on a larger scale. Yasmin was an instant hit. Despite her being half German, her Pakistani features got her the job. At the time Yasmin started modeling there were no faces in the fashion industry like hers. Soon Yasmin's father became ok with Yasmin being a model.

Ghauri was not just modeling but actually working for all the big shots in the western fashion world. Offers and contracts were coming to Yasmin from left and right. Yasmeen served as a longtime model for Victoria's Secret and was admired as a great runway model. During her career, Yasmeen earned the title "the Panther" because of her movement and popularity on runways for collections and couture shows. Yasmeen achieved as a model were her covers for Cosmopolitan and various editions of Vogue, Elle and Marie Claire magazines. She also scored ad campaigns for Valentino, Escada, and Hermès.

Ghauri was among the elite fashion models working in the early nineties. The former model is fluent in both French and English. Yasmin served as a great inspiration to all Muslim Models all over the world and in particular for Pakistani models who could now hope to move onto the international Fashion scene in the footsteps of Yasmin. Being born in Montreal Canada, Yasmin has always identified herself as a Canadian Pakistani. She has spoken on strong and important issues of Muslim Women in the international fashion world making her a well loved icon.
