Indiana Evans, born on July 27, 1990, is an Australian actress perhaps best known for her role as Matilda Hunter on popular Australian soap opera Home and Away from 2004-2008.

Evans who plays Matilda Hunter had an interest in performing since the age of five, when she would perform for family and friends. At the age of seven, Indiana's parents enrolled her into dance lessons which started with Ballet and then evolved to Jazz and Tap.

At the age of 10, Evans had an interest in musical instruments and took up percussion lessons before joining an agency. She started modeling the first year and attended castings for TV commercials. In 2001, she got her first role running in an Asguard commercial. With her first pay cheque from the commercial, she bought her own drum kit.

Before working on Home and Away, Evans had started high school at Newtown School for Performing Arts, but had to discontinue it after only two weeks to focus on her acting career. She then took up correspondence course until she turned 15. Indiana has dated on-screen love interest Rhys Wakefield, who recently left his role as Lucas Holden. They split up in mid 2006. She has denied rumours that she is dating another on-screen partner Lincoln Lewis.  

In 2003, Evans got a guest role as Milly Roberts in an episode of All Saints. She then landed the principal role in an American campaign for Kool Aid.

Evans also appeared in the Australian comedy sketch show Comedy Inc. The same year, she also got the role of Abbie Oakly on the television series, Snobs. Apparently, she learned horse riding and surfing for this role.[citation needed] In 2004, Evans also appeared on Girl TV, a daily TV magazine show.

In 2004, when her part in Snobs was coming to an end, Evans was asked to audition for the role of Matilda Hunter in the series Home and Away. She was nominated for the 2005 Logie Award for Most Popular New Talent – Female for playing the role. It was recently announced that Evans would be leaving Home & Away in October 2008 as the producers felt the need not to renew her contract.
