BIOGRAPHY Clemence Poesy, born November 30, 1982 in L'Haÿ-les-Roses, a suburb of Paris, is a French actress.
Poesy spent her youth close to the French capital with her mother - a French teacher - and her father, a stage actor. He has his own theatre troupe: le Théâtre du Sable. Clémence has inherited her father's passion for acting and he gave her her first part on stage - just two lines - at the age of 14 after yielding for her asking him. Despite her aspirations as an actress, Poesy chose to continue her studies. She graduates from high school and gets her Degree in Performing arts in Nanterre before getting an agent and perfecting her craft in Paris.
After a small stop on tv with two tv-movies (L'Etoile d'un été and Carnets d'ados), Poesy tries out cinéma with Bienvenue chez les Rozes in 2003 - which she plays the daughter of Carole Bouquet - and L'été d'Olga. Her time in the U.K. the next year marks the turning point of her career. Poesy portrays Mary Stuart brilliantly in the BBC's mini-series Gunpowder, Treason and Plot. Her brilliant performance is greeted with positive reviews and even earns her Best Actress at the Festival International de Programmation Audiovisuelle in 2005.
At the time of airing of Gunpowder that casting for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire starts. One of the casting directors who worked with her before, encourages Poesy to audition for the part of Fleur Delacour, but Clémence believes she's too old for the part and hesitates. In the end she is convinced and she sends a tape and meets director Mike Newell a few weeks later in Paris. After a short audition in London, Clémence gets the part of Beauxbatons champion, which she probably will reprise in further installments of the franchise. In the meantime, Poesy has finished filming Le Grand Meaulnes and will next be seen in tv-film Les Amants du Flore. View GALLERY:
